FAQs

Questions people ask us.

Short answers to the questions we hear most. Still wondering? Book a chat or message us.

What is iERA Philippines?

iERA Philippines (iERA Pilipinas) is the Philippines team of iERA, a global dawah organisation. Our Outreach Specialists and volunteers share Islam with wisdom in streets, markets and villages, hold one-on-one chats, support new Muslims and train Muslims to do dawah.

Is everything really free?

Yes. The chats, books, New Muslim Support classes, the salah workshop, mentoring and our trainings are all free.

Do I have to become Muslim if I book a chat?

No. The chat is simply a conversation. Many people just want to understand what Muslims believe. There is no pressure at all.

Who will I talk to?

A trained volunteer of the same gender: a brother for brothers, a sister for sisters. In English or Filipino.

What do Muslims believe about Jesus (Hesus)?

Muslims love and respect Jesus (peace be upon him) as one of the greatest messengers of God, born miraculously to the Virgin Mary. Muslims do not believe he is God or the son of God. Book a chat if you would like to talk about it.

How do I become Muslim?

By believing in one God and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His final messenger, and saying the shahadah. See our Become Muslim page, or message us and we can be with you.

I have just embraced Islam. What now?

Tell us on the Become Muslim page. We will help you learn wudhu and prayer and connect you with free classes and a mentor.

Can I read the Qur'an in Filipino?

Yes. You can read a Filipino translation online for free, or ask us for a copy on the free Qur'an page.

How can I help?

Register as a volunteer and join a free dawah training. You can help in street, village or online dawah, mentor new Muslims or lend a skill.

Is Islam new in the Philippines?

No. Islam reached the southern Philippines more than 600 years ago. The Sheikh Karimul Makhdum Mosque in Simunul, Tawi-Tawi, first built in 1380, is the oldest mosque in the country, and Muslim communities in Mindanao and Sulu have kept their faith ever since.

Where do you work?

Mostly in Metro Manila and Central Luzon (Pampanga, Tarlac, Bataan and Zambales), with outreach in the Visayas and Mindanao. Online, we can talk to anyone.
